43 film gives more than expected

Dramatic First Trailer

I’m usually pretty easy to comedies. All I wanna do is laugh and have a good time – that is essentially what comedy is supposed to do, right? 43 film seemed to have that element of silly fun tend to appreciate, so I thought “why not? Let’s give it a try. Who cares if RottenTomatoes.com gave a rating of 4%!”

I’m kind of regret that decision.

Not so much a feature as it is a series of short – the film has a loose narrative that holds everything together, but shorts are completely autonomous. I do not mind the structure – which might have worked if the team was very good.

The first short is titled “The Catch” and starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet. The story surrounds a blind date. There is a large backlog and a ridiculous salary was, but like the rest of shorts in the film 43, the joke is just too long. As time went on, I realized that (some) films would be fun for a while, then go completely overboard and lose myself.

There is something to say about shock value – but when it is so consistent and at the top, which starts just to annoy me. Also, some things that are “above” are just not fun to start.

Here’s a quick summary of shorts and the stars in each:

El Paso – Greg Kinnear, Dennis Quaid – An actor does not work locations idea of a movie studio executive – that is the “principal” scenario; shorts spin-off of this story

The Catch – Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet – A woman is accompanied on a blind date by a man with an unusual feature

Homeschooled – Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber – Two parents have an unorthodox method of managing your school

The Proposal – Anna Faris, Chris Pratt – A loving couple realizes they both have a proposal to the other

Veronica – Kieran Culkin, Emma Stone – Two teenage trash has an interesting conversation on a speaker

Ibabe – Richard Gere, Kate Bosworth, Jack McBrayer – a parody of the apple

Speed Dating Superhero – Justin Long, Jason Sudeikis, Uma Thurman, Bobby Cannavale, Kristen Bell – Robin tries to find a date, but Batman has other plans

Middleschool Date – Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloe Moretz, Patrick Warburton, Jimmy Bennett, Matt Walsh – a young couple is hanging at home until …

Happy Birthday – Gerard Butler, Seann William Scott, Johnny Knoxville – a guy catches the best gift for your best friend

Truth or Dare – Halle Berry, Stephen Merchant – a couple of plays or truth, but things take a terrible turn

Gloria Victoria – Terrance Howard – a coach gives an inspiring speech, but it’s not what you think

Beezel – Elizabeth Banks, Josh Duhamel – a psychotic with short, lively cat

I tried to stay as vague as I could in these descriptions, because honestly, if I told you exactly what to expect, you would not funny at all. As I said earlier, 90% of the shock value of the film. It seems there was a constant desire to raise the bar with every scene, and everyone seeks to push the envelope too late.

I’m not the type of person who is offended and outraged, so it’s not my problem with the film 43. Here’s my problem – after a point it ceases to be just fun. There’s a fine line to walk in comedy; there is a place for shock value and outrageous jokes, but this film often move to be funny to be unpleasant. I would say half shorts have some comedic value for them, either in the subject or the actors – the other half are not as fun to start.

Part of me really wanted FILM 43. The fact that so many great actors starred in such Hollywood screwball comedy that reminds me of these guys do not take it too seriously. Especially Hugh Jackman – when you see this sketch, you realize that it must be great to hang out. Just stinks jokes do not always work as they should.

So there it is. I guess what I get for trying to take a chance on 43. Film Oh well. You can not always win. Unfortunately Movie 43 had to learn the hard way.
