US actress Jessica Chastain Jessica Howard was born in Sonoma, California, March 24, 1977. Chastain grew up in a working class family and was one of five children. Chastain’s father was a firefighter, and his mother worked as a vegan chef and still does today. Chastain became vegan at a very young age, mainly due to the influence of his mother. When Chastain was nine, he developed an interest in dance. His love of dance continued in the coming years, and Chastain joined a dance group at the age of thirteen. Chastain attended El Camino High School in Sacramento and graduated in 1995 at the age of eighteen. In high school, he adopted the maiden name of his mother (Chastain) to use as a stage name in school productions.

After leaving high school, Chastain was at Sacramento City College. Once there, Chastain has gained much experience playing roles in a number of works of Shakespeare. Chastain received her first big break in her last year when she was cast as Juliet in the play “Romeo and Juliet”. The production, directed by TheatreWorks of professional theater company, Chastain gave confidence to pursue an acting career. On the recommendation of another player in the game, Chastain applied to study at the Juilliard School in New York. Chastain was accepted into the school and moved to New York to pursue his studies. Chastain was unable to attend the Juilliard School in large part by a grant which was created by actor Robin Williams, who attended school in his youth. During his studies in New York, Chastain participated in numerous theater productions and film projects at school and spent much time in the department of drama.

During his senior year at Juilliard School, famous producer John Wells came for Chastain act on one of his shows. Wells saw something special in Chastain and gave him a contract detention twelve months with the hope to offer a role in one of his many television. Later in 2003, he graduated from the Juilliard School Chastain with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In the coming months, Chastain established small roles in several shows, including “ER,” “Dark Shadows” and “Law & Order: Trial by Jury”.

Chastain was not able to find a permanent role in a TV show, he went back to what he felt comfortable with: the scene. In the coming years, Chastain could act alongside many famous actors and actresses like Michelle Williams (in “The Cherry Orchard”) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (in “Othello”).

In 2008, Chastain made the transition to the big screen and played in his first Hollywood film, “Jolene”, where he had the opportunity to play the lead role of the same name. After this performance, Chastain won the Seattle International Film Festival Award for Best Actress. Although this price has promised a bright future for Chastain, we found only a role player in a short film (“Stolen”) until 2011, when the time would be his breakthrough year Hollywood.

The year 2013 may be even more promising for Chastain, since it is due to star in “Mama,” a Spanish-Canadian production. Chastain will also play the lead role of Eleanor Rigby “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby”, where he played alongside James McAvoy. With the recent success of Chastain during the movie awards season, there are sure to be plenty of stars shows in the coming years
