Movie Review – Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon Mark “Walk the Line” Better Film

Tightrope – (average) 2 stars

“Walk the Line” is the story of Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) and June Carter Cash (Reese Witherspoon). Born poor in Arkansas, cash rose to fame in the world of country music and destroyed many relationships along the way with alcohol, drugs and prostitution. Finally, June Carter wins her heart.

Cash became what it was because the songs he wrote and sang his heart was in his own life; were not wrong and music lovers that relate to them in their own world.

Walk the Line was a struggle to produce, as it took four years to ensure the rights of the film and another four years to make the film. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon made her own song, two had six months of vocal training and learned to play their instruments (guitar and auto-harp) from scratch.

Both Phoenix and Witherspoon showcase their talent in this film that was a great story, but not a great presentation. Based in part on own book Man in Black and Cash Cash: The Autobiography, adaptation Gill Dennis and James Mangold, who also directed the film is also credited. It is rarely a good idea for a manager to be a writer in the same movie, and Mangold showed why.

Instead of being a good view, it seemed that Mangold was determined to send her portrayal of Johnny Cash naked in the woods and effective drag through the miry clay too long. It was not necessary and added nothing to the film in my opinion. Mangold not just tell a good story well, he told a story.

They Whatever sins cash on your way to becoming a music legend and icon countries could have been handled without trying to bring it to an art form. The writers and director who is without sin cast the first stone. It seemed as if they would drag down the money to put in place.

Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon recorded this movie. Witherspoon won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Actress. Phoenix was nominated for an Oscar and won the Golden Globe for best actor. Walk the Line won the Golden Globe for Best Picture, but not on my ballot. Walk the Line won more Oscar nominations for costumes, editing and sound mixing. Besides Oscar Witherspoon, the film had 27 other wins and another 26 nominations.

Walk the Line, launched in 2005, has a special place in history as Johnny Cash recorded with Sun Records in Memphis, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, among others.

It was reported that Johnny Cash chose Joaquin Phoenix him play in the movie or on the basis of their performance in “Gladiator” June Carter Cash and Reese Witherspoon chose for his role in the film. June Carter Cash died in May 2003, before production began on the film, and Johnny Cash died four months later, in September 2003.

Cash was blessed with a deep distinctive voice and known as “The Man in Black”. He has written more than 1,000 songs and sold over 90 million albums in a career that spanned almost five decades. A diverse group artists grandstand Cash paid, including Bob Dylan, Chris Isaak, Wyclef Jean, Norah Jones, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and U2.

Johnny Cash has a number of signature songs that are not not going away anytime soon, including “I Walk the Line”, “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Ring of Fire”, “Man in Black” and “A Boy Named Sue “.

Walk the Line is worth visiting just for Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. I do not look back, and it was not a better person for having seen it, so it becomes my average rating would have been higher with better writing and better direction.
